Ms Pauline Champoux-Lesage
Québec Ombudsman
After obtaining a classical education at Collège Jésus-Marie in Sillery, Ms Pauline Champoux-Lesage continued her studies at Laval University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree of Pedagogy, a teaching licence and a Master’s Degree of Arts. She also studied psychology at the University of Strasbourg and completed a one-year internship at a speech therapy centre connected with the Université de Nice. Lastly, she holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from ENAP.
After teaching young handicapped students and working as a remedial speech therapist, she began her public service career in 1980, first as a professional and later as Head of Services and Director of School Adjustment and Ancillary Services. Promoted to Chief Executive, Private Education, she was appointed, in 1991, as Assistant Deputy Minister for Human Resources of the elementary and secondary education network. In 1993, she was named Assistant Deputy Minister for College Education. In 1996, she became a Deputy Minister, first with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and then in December 1996, for the Ministry of Education.
On 20 December 2000, the National Assembly nominated her for the role of Québec Ombudsman, a position she has held since January 3, 2001.
